Bicester: Firefighters rescue trapped cat from drain

Firefighters rescued a cat which was stuck in a storm drain.

A crew from Bicester Fire Station rushed to Skimmingdish Lane to help the trapped cat.

Access was gained to the drain after clearing undergrowth before by lowering a cat basket containing treats into the drain to tempt the cat out.

Crew manager, Alex Holbrook said: "The owner did the right thing by calling us out and not putting themselves at danger, we were happy we could help and that the cat is feline fine now."

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said: "Crews gained access to the drainage system after clearing undergrowth, and by lowering a cat basket containing treats this was enough to tempt the mischievous moggy who came willingly into the basket before being raised up and out of the drain system."
